Job Description

About the mahi (role) – Kaiārahi & Physiotherapist for Tāmaki Makaurau

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Māori Physiotherapist for a unique opportunity to work with our Māori health team and develop our service within the local Māori community. The role will be split with a clinical workload and working in Māori health development to support the Auckland clinics and services, build relationships with local iwi and other local providers. The role will be well supported by the National Hauora Connect (Māori Health Team) and the head of Māori Health. The clinical workload will be carried out at a new satellite of the Ellerslie clinic within a Māori Health Provider. 

In this role, you will be reporting to the Ellerslie clinic manager and working closely with the Head of Māori Health and other Kaiārahi and be a part of both our clinic-based service and our Māori Health Kaiārahi leadership team.

With extensive training and mentoring, the successful candidate will be required to provide a wide variety of different services within the clinic environment. This role will be split between 3 days in the clinic and 2 days in the Kaiārahi role.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

The applicant requires a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience. A post-graduate qualification in Māori Health / Public Health would be an advantage to the applicant however not essential. It is expected that the successful applicant would be willing to work towards a post-graduate qualification. A good grasp of Te Reo and tikanga Māori is preferred.

  • Current full clean driver’s licence.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above qualification

About the team

TBI Health has a National Māori Health team consisting of Head of Māori Health, Kaiārahi and Hauora Connect Champions that meet regularly online - for support and to measure progress in Māori Health development. The TBI Health Ellerslie team is an experienced team of physiotherapists, a psychologist, hand therapist, community and vocational hybrid therapists and visiting orthopaedic surgeons and a pain specialist with a vision of growth within the region.
