Job Description

About the mahi (role)

We are looking for an enthusiastic Employment Consultant/Vocational Consultant with strong communication skills who will make this role their own!

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) role that has the flexibility of arranging your own schedule for a work-life balance.

You will work alongside our clients to deliver Back To Work, Job Search programmes and IOA contracts for ACC. You will also have the opportunity to work on MSD contracts and with private insurers to help them get ready to return to the workforce and find new employment. 

As a valued member of our experienced interdisciplinary team, you will work alongside our physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other allied health providers, to provide integrated support for our clients on their journey.

Your role would include:

  • Developing plans alongside clients and clinicians that create a clear and tailored pathway to support becoming ready for work 
  • Delivering pre-employment support, such as CV/cover letter writing, job search strategies and goal setting, interview preparation, and coaching 
  • Sourcing and organising training for licensing and upskilling 
  • Managing funding, timeframes, and communication with insurers
  • Searching for and brokering work trials and employment opportunities 
  • Building external relationships with case managers, training providers, and employers
  • Reporting and administration

The ideal candidate will have vocational rehabilitation experience and understand ACC’s Vocational Rehabilitation Services processes.

To be successful in this role you will be someone who:

  • Full Professional CDANZ membership is required to meet ACC requirements
  • An understanding of how to support clients with health conditions, injuries, and disabilities in employment
  • Skills in building relationships with clients, employers, and stakeholders
  • A strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude 
  • Very good organisational and multi-tasking skills
  • Good computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work alongside our clinical team 
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously 
  • Full clean drivers licence
