Job Description

About the Mahi (Role)

We’re looking for a qualified Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join our Gisborne team at TBI Health. Whether you’re looking for a full-time role (40 hours/week) or something more flexible, we’d love to hear from you.

You'll report to the Clinic Manager and play a key role in both our Vocational Rehabilitation and Hospital & Community teams, supporting clients across the Gisborne and Te Tairāwhiti region.

This is a diverse and rewarding clinical role—you'll be working across multiple contracts including:

  • ACC: Integrated Care Pathway, Vocational Rehabilitation, Pain Management, Training for Independence
  • Workplace health: Early Intervention services for nationwide organisations (e.g., Countdown, Downer, DOC, MSD)
  • Private and insured clients, using a collaborative and holistic model of care

You will be passionate about improving health equity in rehabilitation and supporting clients in their recovery.

good understanding of te reo Māori, tikanga, and cultural safety or someone keen to progress their understanding and learning of te ao Māori would be sought after. We tailor our services to meet both clinical and cultural needs, with a strong focus on improving health equity for Māori. Approximately 45% of the local population identify as Māori, so we are actively growing our cultural competency and partnerships with iwi and Māori health providers.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

This is a clinical role suited to a qualified Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with a passion for delivering high-quality, client-centred care.

Our ideal candidate will have at least two years of clinical experience in New Zealand.

Experience in vocational rehabilitation or a post-graduate qualification would be advantageous, however, not essential.

Ideally, you will also bring:

  • A strong work ethic
  • A positive, can-do attitude 
  • A desire to achieve clinical excellence 
  • Very good organisational and communication skills
  • An ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • An awareness of how to provide top-quality customer service 
  • A commitment to professional development 
  • A current practicing certificate to work in New Zealand
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance & Professional Membership
  • Current clean full driver’s license
