About the Mahi (Role) – Community Physiotherapist
Are you a passionate and motivated physiotherapist looking to make a real difference in the community? Join our friendly Nelson-Tasman team in a full-time role (40 hours, Monday–Friday), with flexible hours available for the right person.
In this role, you will support clients across the Nelson-Tasman region, delivering care where it matters most – in their homes, workplaces, rest homes, and community settings. You will be working across a variety of services and contracts, including Concussion, Training for Independence, Vocational Rehabilitation, Assessment Services, and more.
Your Key Tasks will include:
Completing client assessments and developing tailored treatment plans
Providing physiotherapy in diverse community settings
Collaborating with a supportive multidisciplinary team
Documenting and reporting in Gensolve
Guiding clients through recovery and supporting long-term wellbeing
Liaising with colleagues, funders, and employers
Contributing to team meetings, development, and training
You will be supported by an experienced Clinic Manager and be a valued part of our Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Team.
About the Nelson Team Our Nelson team is a close-knit, multidisciplinary group of 14, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, exercise therapists, psychologists, and orthopaedic surgeons. We collaborate closely, share ideas, and support each other.
The clinic is right in the Nelson CBD, close to great coffee and lunch spots, and just a short walk from the beach, perfect for a quick lunchtime recharge.
Outside of work, Nelson offers an incredible lifestyle with sunshine, mountain biking trails, beach walks, and local wines (plus the world-famous peanut butter!).
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
You will be a confident, motivated physiotherapist with a positive attitude and strong clinical reasoning. We welcome applications from all experience levels — from new graduates to senior clinicians.
You will be comfortable managing a varied caseload across multiple services. ACC experience is a bonus — but not essential, as we provide full support and training.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in physiotherapy
A current practising certificate and indemnity insurance
A full, clean NZ driver’s licence
Passion for community rehabilitation and a commitment to high-quality care
Strong clinical reasoning, report writing, and communication skills
Confidence using Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and clinical software
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
A proactive, can-do attitude and commitment to ongoing professional development
