Job Description
About the mahi (role)
Join our Palmerston North team as a Registered Clinical or Health Psychologist and make a real impact in people’s lives. This is a varied role where you'll work across a mix of contracts, including the ACC Pain Management Service, Training for Independence, and private/employer services.
You’ll support clients across the lifespan, from those recovering from injury to those managing persistent pain, to helping them regain independence and return to meaningful life activities. This is a part-time position (24 hours per week), with flexibility around days and hours.
Key Tasks:
Carry out thorough assessments and make recommendations with sound clinical reasoning
Provide written and verbal summaries of assessments, with clear treatment goals and rationales
Provide effective psychology treatment to TBI Health clients
Collaborate with members of the MDT
Responsible for ensuring all contract clinical reports and referrer letters are completed at an acceptable standard within contracted timeframes

About you
You’re a compassionate and motivated psychologist who wants to make a real impact on people’s health and wellbeing. Whether you're experienced or just starting your career, you're driven to provide meaningful, evidence-based care.
You’ll bring:
A postgraduate qualification (Master’s or Doctorate) in Psychology
Registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board (Clinical or Health scope)
A current Annual Practising Certificate, professional membership, and indemnity insurance
Ideally, 2+ years’ experience and some familiarity with ACC contracts (not essential)
An interest or experience in pain management and rehabilitation
Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
Respect for diversity, strong professional ethics, and a values-led approach
Good time management and written documentation skills
A willingness to learn and grow – we provide full training, orientation, and ongoing support

About the Palmerston North team
Our Palmerston North clinic is part of a purpose-built health centre, alongside radiology and orthopaedic specialists. The team includes physiotherapists, OTs, psychologists, hand therapists, a nurse practitioner, dietitian, and more, and all passionate about collaborative, client-centred care.
We’ve built strong local partnerships with MSK and pain specialists, and we pride ourselves on our warm, social team culture (and great local coffee options!).
