Job Description

About the mahi (role)

TBI Health New Plymouth is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior MSK Physiotherapist to join our expanding services across New Plymouth and Hāwera.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys mentoring others and is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey as there is an opportunity to grow into a Team Leader position. You’ll be part of a strong, collaborative team providing a wide range of rehabilitation services.

You’ll also work closely with pain specialists, psychologists, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, and other allied health professionals, with opportunities to grow your skills and influence clinical practice.

The role will include:

  • Provide assessment and rehabilitation services according to ACC contract service specifications.
  • Provide support, supervision, and training to new graduate physiotherapists and students when required.
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and progress physiotherapy care.
  • Monitor the progress of patients and report progress to appropriate MDT staff to facilitate discharge planning
  • Refer appropriate patients to other internal or external healthcare providers for ongoing care after discharge if required.
  • Provide accurate clinical assessments and education to clinic patients.
  • Play an active role in the review and management of patients within TBI Health’s pain management programme.
  • Actively participate in the development and instigation of treatment protocols.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

You’ll bring a positive attitude, strong clinical reasoning, and a passion for supporting others. You will have:

  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience
  • Strong MSK skills and commitment to clinical excellence
  • Proven leadership experience or a clear desire to step into a leadership role
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • A customer-focused approach and strong interpersonal skills
  • Empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to ongoing development
  • Current APC, professional membership, and indemnity insurance
  • Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy
