Job Description
About the mahi (role)
Looking for a role where every day is different, your clinical skills are valued, and you can genuinely make a difference?
Join our growing TBI Health Whangārei team and help people return to the things that matter most — work, independence, community, and everyday life.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join our Vocational and Community Services team. Whether you're an experienced clinician or looking to take the next step in your career, we’ll provide the training, support and opportunities to help you thrive.
What makes this role different?
This is a varied role where you can play to your strengths. You’ll work across workplace, community and clinical settings, supporting people at different stages of their rehabilitation journey.
Your week could include workplace assessments, return-to-work planning, community rehabilitation, client education, in-home assessments or working alongside employers and health professionals to achieve great outcomes.
There’s also plenty of variety in where you work — from our Whangārei clinic and fantastic gym at Semenoff Stadium, to workplaces and community locations across Northland, with the flexibility to work from home for administrative tasks.
We’re open to both full-time and part-time options (minimum 3 days, preferred full time, however open to 3-5days)
What you’ll be doing
Completing workplace assessments for return to work following illness or injury.
Providing patient education, training, treatment, and rehabilitation in a variety of community and workplace settings.
Liaise with external partners such as specialists, GP's, and employers to ensure smooth rehabilitation for the client
A varied caseload of ACC contracts, early intervention and private vocational services.
Providing in-home assessments to identify injured clients' needs and options to address these needs
Providing in-home OT intervention/rehabilitation for injured clients
Benefits of joining TBI Health
We’re a team that feels like whānau.
You’ll be joining an experienced, supportive interdisciplinary team with a shared commitment to making a difference for our clients and growing rehabilitation services across Northland.
We’ll support you with:
Competitive Salary plus the opportunity to earn KPI-based quarterly bonuses.
Work laptop, mobile phone and vehicle for work purposes.
Subsidised Southern Cross health insurance for eligible employees working 20+ hours per week.
Comprehensive internal training and professional development programmes.
An annual career development contribution for conferences, courses and postgraduate study.
Opportunities for career progression locally and across New Zealand.
Birthday leave for eligible employees working 20+ hours per week.
A wellbeing allowance, currently $250, for eligible employees working 20+ hours per week.
A genuinely inclusive and diverse workplace where your perspective and culture are valued.
Training throughout the year to support the appropriate incorporation of Māori tikanga into your practice.
Desired Skills and Experience
About you

A current practising certificate, professional body membership and appropriate indemnity insurance.
A current, clean full NZ driver licence.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to manage your time, workload and priorities effectively.
Confidence working both autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
A positive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to thrive in a busy environment.
A genuine interest in vocational and community rehabilitation.
A Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.
Previous clinical experience of at least two years is required. Postgraduate qualifications would be advantageous.
