Job Description

About the mahi (role)

This is an exciting opportunity to join our New Plymouth team in a part-time Physiotherapist role (28 hours per week), initially fixed term for approximately seven months to provide parental leave cover within our private hospital contract.

With a strong MSK focus, you’ll work across a varied and rewarding caseload, with the opportunity to build your experience across private hospital, vocational and community rehabilitation. Your work may include post-operative rehabilitation at Southern Cross Hospital, vocational rehabilitation, community-based services and rest-home care. Occasional weekend roster work may be required.

While the role is initially fixed term, there is potential for this to develop into an ongoing or permanent position within our clinic or community teams. There may also be flexibility to increase your hours, up to full-time, depending on your interests, availability and the needs of the service.

You’ll be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team in our busy New Plymouth clinic, working alongside experienced physiotherapists and a wider network of health professionals. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, values collaborative care and is keen to continue developing their clinical skills across different areas of rehabilitation.

You will report to the New Plymouth Clinic Manager and work closely with our wider clinical team to provide high-quality, client-centred rehabilitation.

Our team is very active and likes to get out and about during lunchtime, whether it be for a walk or run on the walkway in the park or popping down for a dip in the sea. Supporting great local events is also our aim.

Taranaki has it all. The most sunshine hours, beaches, walkway, hiking, MTB-ing, great rivers and lakes as well as the Maunga for summer and winter adventures. If you like sport and the outdoors then this is the place to be.
